Here’s a brilliant little video from the Topman CTRL night curated by Filthy Dukes. A truly great night - thanks to all who came. We have tonnes more live music coming up at Postcards so look sharp
Here’s a sneak preview of this year’s Field Day line up. From where we’re standing highlights look like downtempo techno maestro Pantha Du Prince and cult heroes Silver Apples. As ever with Field Day it’s a forward thinking kind of line up that grows on you, the more you find out about it. We’ll see you there in August.
Late Of The Pier - DJ Set
Yaaard - live
Your Boyfriends Are DJs
Back this year an amazing new single on Erol Alkan’s Phantasy label, Late Of The Pier remain one of the most exciting bands in the world. In fact to quote Mr Boys Noise they are “the best band in the world”. We’re extremely excited to have them come to Bournemouth and play records they’re into and are influenced by. Expect to hear mutant electro, oddball pop and chest beating disco. Bournemouth’s own Yaaard makes beautifully distorted electronica influenced HEALTH, M83 and Ricardo Villalobos. Only £4 / £3 Regulars Cards / NUS.
Stopmakingme - OWTIC 001
Here’s a regular little feature I’ll be contributing to the ace Out With The In Crowd website. A mix of brand new music making my life better right now. It’s more a collection of records rather than a DJ mix but the idea is that it should be listened to in this order. A mixtape, if you will. It’s always a really enjoyable exercise to do such projects. It gives me the opportunity to bring out some different tracks I wouldn’t normally play in clubs. Put it on your iPod and have a listen whilst walking around in the cold. Hope y’all like it!

Stuff We Like : The XX + Saam Farahmand
Every now and again we’ll post something that isn’t strictly to do with Sixty Million Postcards, but that we just liked and decided to share with you. Here’s an image from artist Saam Farahmand’s installation interpretation of The XX album. We love the album and you can read a review of this exhibition on the link below. Shaam says of the project “Music videos are a 2D visual interpretation of a song… We are interested in creating spaces that exist as a 3D physical interpretation of a song or an album, and that is what we have created for the album xx”.
Remember to come and catch XX member / remixer and forward thinking DJ in his own right at Postcards on March 13th. It’ll be a good one.
Those of you with an eye for aesthetics will have noticed the sexiness of our recent flyer art. This is down to illustrative handy work of one Jo Sinclair. You can see his latest work on the cover of our February flyer downloadable on from this page. We’ll be uploading all our artwork into the art section of this blog so you can print it off and pass it off as your own work as you see fit, just kidding. In the meantime Jo has just finished working on a huge new mural down the side of Sixty Million Postcards so go and check it out.
Anyone interested in contributing will illustration / photography or art should email us on sixtympc@mac.com
